Need an excuse to put on red lipstick and make a gorgeous selfie? Here you are: the #Letsfaceitperiod campaign.
The Red Lipstick Challenge is the latest menstrual awareness action. No need to photograph yourself with your tampon (#justatampon) or write about your monthly flow (#livetweetyourperiod) this time. Instead, put on your favourite red lipstick and make a selfie. Share this pic on social media, while using the hashtags #redlipstickchallenge and #letsfaceitperiod. Of course men are invited to participate as well. Smile!
Selfie isn’t enough
Although it spreads the word about menstruation, merely posting a selfie on Twitter isn’t enough. Apart from breaking taboos, LetsFaceItPeriod also wants to encourage girls’ access to education and sanitary products. For example in countries such as Nepal, Kenia and Tanzania, where clean toilets and affordable sanitary towels are a rarity. That’s why participants are requested to donate some money and ask three of their friends to also take part in this fun campaign as well.
So, whether you’re into crimson, scarlet, magenta or classic red, colour those lips and join in! More info: click here.
