Ever wanted to see a skateboarding menstrual cup or a scuba diving tampon? Well, this is your chance. Toni the Tampon is a kid-friendly period colouring book, designed by the American menstrual health educator Cass Clemmer.
Toni the tampon started out as a social experiment in Clemmer’s senior year of college and also as a personal quest. As a transman, Clemmer has a complicated relationship with menstruation. Inspired by his mother, who carries around a stuffed hippo on her road trips, Clemmer decided to carry around a fluffy tampon with googly eyes and post photos of it on Instagram.
Eliminate period shame
Little Toni had a big dream: to help start a conversation about menstrual health and eliminate the shame surrounding periods. The tampon quickly became more than just a tiny traveling companion. While sketching, Clemmer decided to take Toni onto the pages of something people of all ages could enjoy: a colouring book.
Sebastian the Sponge & Patrice the Pad
After Clemmer has worked on the book for over 1.5 years, now Toni the Tampon is available on Amazon. The book includes 20 hand drawn pages of Toni the Tampon and friends: Marina the Menstrual Cup, Sebastian the Sponge and Patrice the Pad. Together, the sanitary products go on adventures in space, under the sea, and in the wild, wild west. Also check out the Toni Instagram account: about the adventures of a tampon living life outside the wrapper. You can follow Cass Clemmer via @theperiodprince.
