March is Endometriosis Awareness Month. And March 25 is Worldwide EndoMarch day. All over the world women come together to raise awareness and take a stand against endometriosis.
Endometriosis is a chronic condition where tissue that looks like endometrium grows outside the uterus. For example in the ovaries or abdominal cavity. This leads to chronic infections, which can cause severe pain and fertility problems. Endometriosis is one of the main causes of female infertility and affects one in ten women.
The women behind EndoMarch want to inform the public that endometriosis isn’t just a case of ‘bad cramps’, but a serious disease with severe medical consequences if left untreated. To raise this awareness, various events will be organised in dozens of countries, from Argentina and the USA to Zimbabwe, Hungary and the UK.
